Joe Spina

President Chaos Organization

Head Coach 18U Gold

Coach Spina is entering his 21st season with the Chaos Organization. Starting with the 14U team in 1998 he has worked through every level into his current position as Gold Team Head Coach and current Organization President.  During his tenure he has had a very successful track record helping hundreds of girls to reach their dream of playing softball at the collegiate level. Countless games and tournaments over the years he had his best finish in 2015 when his Gold Team was ranked #8 Nationally. Overseeing pitchers and pitch calling he has coached 5 Gatorade Players of the Year, 2 All Americans and countless All Region and All State Selections. Before Chaos, Coach Spina was involved in Softball, Basketball and Soccer in the Aldan Girls' Club from 1987 to 2003. Sat on the board of directors of the Aldan Girls' Club as the corresponding secretary from 1989 to to 2003. Coached CYO Basketball and Softball for St Joseph's in Collingdale from 1995 to 2004. Coached Softball at the Brandywine Youth Club from 2004 - 2006. Coached Boys Baseball, Football, Soccer and Basketball from 2011 to Current. Assistant Coach Garnet Valley HS Softball from 2007 - 2012. He is currently the owner and operator of Proprep Concrete Services. Joe and his wife have five children, a son, four daughters (all Chaos Alumni) and three grandchildren. 

Jim DeSanto

Assistant Coach 18U Gold

College Recruiting Coordinator

Jim DeSanto has been coaching for over 30 years. Starting with Upper Darby Little League from 1985-2002, on the Board of Directors for Upper Darby Little League from 1986-2002, and President Upper Darby Little League 2003-2004. He has been part of several different organizations including Delco Sting, Delco Bullets, Lower Southhampton Warriors before starting in 2000 with the Chaos Organization. Jim coached his daughter through the organization as a slapper and then she went on to play Collegiately at Monmouth College.  Jim has been Assistant on the Gold Team since 2007 and now primarily serves as college coordintor. Jim has established relationships with college coaches all over the country and works diligently to assist our players in the recruiting process. Jim has been vitale in helping countless numbers of Chaos players to continue their softball careers at the collegiate level. After serving in the Air Force from 1975-1980 Jim graduated from Widener University in 1983 with a BS in Accounting and then Juris Doctor in 1987, admitted to the Bar of Pennsylvania in 1987 he currently practices law in the Philadelphia area. Jim and his wife have four children and three grandchildren.

Tom Scarpato

Assistant Coach 18U Gold

Coach Scarpato has been coaching softball for 15 years, 12 of them with Chaos.  He has coached in-house, rec ball, middle school and travel softball with experience at the travel ball level from U10 through U18 Gold. He has two daughters who have come through the Chaos organization from U10 through U18 Gold to continue playing at the collegiate level.   He enjoys coaching travel softball while helping girls prepare to play at the next level and more importantly helping girls prepare for life.  Using lessons learned from softball and translating these lessons into life lessons is the best experience in coaching, especially when you see the girls get it and understand it. 

Larry Robtison

Chaos Hitting Instructor

Coach Larry started coaching baseball and softball in 1971. He has been a Chaos hitting Coach since 2008 broadening his involvment in the organization he began as Assistant Gold Coach in 2012. Larry has coached countless hitters over the years with a strong track record for success in creating the power hitter. He works with players on over 20 teams in the NJ, PA, De tri-state area helping them to reach there full potential. Players he has coached have gone on to schools such as Alabama, St Joe's, Hofstra, Coastal Carolina to name a few. Before Chaos Larry coached Middletown Magic from 1992 to 1998 and the Blazing Angels from 1999 - 2005. He was in the Marines from 1969 to 1972 as Military Police and he worked for US Steel from 1969 to 2002 as a crane operator until recently retiring. He has been married for 43 years and has two children and two grandchildren.

Gerry Mauro

Chaos Hitting Instructor

Coach Mauro has been coaching and training amateur high school and collegiate softball players, professional athletes, and Olympians for more than 30 years. A nationally sought after speaker and clinician, he works with organizations to present clinics for athletes and coaches across the country.

Mauro has been the associate head coach of women’s softball at Villanova University (Big East Conference), co-head coach of women’s softball at St. Joseph’s University (Atlantic 10 conference) and head coach of the Philadelphia Force of the Women’s Professional Fastpitch league (NPF).  Mauro coached and trained high school and college athletes for 20 years in California and national softball teams for Venezuela and Russia. A former Board member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and other organizations, he is dedicated to helping players excel in the sport of softball while furthering the coaching profession.
